Fishing Guide Casey Kelly

Casey Kelly has been fishing Washington and Oregon rivers heavily for over 25 years. You would be hard pressed to find another fisherman out there that is more consistent and passionate about catching fish. Casey was hooked on fishing at the age of four when his grandfather started taking him out on the Columbia River to fish for salmon, steelhead and sturgeon every chance he got. Even at an early age, Casey was determined to be a great fisherman while trying to understand what, where, how, and why’s fishing entails.

Casey hasn’t looked back since. Discovering how to make great cured salmon eggs and striving to make it better has been his goal for years. He now has several custom salmon egg cures made from scratch that all have their time and place for each river, species, day, temperature, and water condition. Spending countless days on local rivers figuring out “what they want” has made him a very good bait fisherman in all the areas he fishes.

Trolling cut plug and whole herring on the Columbia River for Spring Chinook is also a deep love of Casey’s. Making a herring roll just perfect, trolling the desired speed, and letting a tasty Spring Chinook bury the rod violently gives just about anybody a thrill, even Casey. There’s a ton of factors that go into choosing the right bait to fish and rigging it to how you want it presented. Only time on the water practicing and perfecting this art is what sets great fisherman apart.

Year after year, things change when fishing for all the species of fish the Columbia River and it’s tributaries has to offer. Being able to adapt to the water conditions, river heights and just plain having a variety of offerings to the fish is what sets many anglers apart. What was working last year, last week, or even yesterday might not be what the fish want today. Knowing the signs of when that is happening and being able to adjust is what makes a great angler truly great.

As a fishing guide, Casey also knows the importance of being courteous and professional at all times, no matter how the fish are biting. Casey’s goal each trip, is to provide his customers with a fishing adventure they will never forget, and one they will want to repeat year after year. Casey is United States Coast Guard Licensed, fully insured, and CPR/first aid trained. Safety is always our top priority, along with having a great time and catching a lot of fish!
